Bill and Cheryl Richards 1967 GTO project.
Here's the specs;
4 speed, posi-traction, or in Pontiac lingo—Safe-T-Track (gears changed to 3.36, I think the 4 speed version came with a 3.55).
The car has a front bench seat with a fold down arm rest. Only around 500 cars were made with this arrangement so it was elected to leave it that way (it’s pretty comfortable anyway).
Car was purchased in July 2010. It had been stored for at least 10 years, If not longer.
The engine was fired and ran for several minutes but it was decided to proceed with the restoration before operating the car.
The car has the original GTO 400 engine but the heads were not correct. Original heads are now on the engine.
The car has been disassembled and the frame was checked and some repairs completed along with the replacement of the body bushings.
Body work has been completed and the car is in the process of being painted.
The paint selected is a modern base coat/clear coat urethane.
An attempt was made to match this paint to the Pontiac Tyrol Blue.
Completion is anticipated by the end of April 2011.
Good luck to Bill and Cheryl with this project . . . do you think it will make it to the CVC?? Keep us posted Bill!!
